[bug] New path to sdcard: breaks "file browser" and camera settings (2.2.0.29, EA)

"file browser" doesn't offer the sdcard in pulldown and camera states "selected storage is not available", despite the sdcard being mounted.

Expected: Camera App Settings converts old path to new path before checking availability.

Using mount --bind makes the sdcard show up in the pulldown of "file browser".
(on JP1)

Update: just udated an Xperia X and there file browser is ok.

Same goes for CargoDock (Camera is working on SailfishX).
On SailfishX the sdcard is mounted to /run/media/nemo/ and the symlink /media/sdcard/ points there. You can acutally browse the card by traversing manually from the root folder.

There's another question that seems to be related, btw. So maybe this is a duplicate?

Duplicate? I don't think so or I don't get the full picture...

Even after update of File Browser the sdcard is missing in pulldown menu. Could you please add the hole prompt? Just mount --bind doesn't work. Terminal answers mount: bad usage

@dirksche: May I suggest to head over to 2.2.0 release notes and check the comments about the sdcard?! I don't know what kind of bad things can happen if one fools around with mount and sdcard. So, I rolled back everthing just after testing...

Ok... so after reading all threads regarding new path to sdcard and similar questions I am tired now to search any longer. - My SanDisk Ultra 128gb SDXC card as well can't be choosen as storage for the camera anymore. This was working before Mouhijoki and I was trying to fix that now for several hours without success.

  • The card is formatted as ext4 and everything stored on the card is accessible via any file browsers or scp from a Windows computer (even though the app File Browser (latest Version) doesn't offer the sdcard in the pulldown menu as well as mentioned above. Cargo Dock doesn't have this issue.

  • All what I want is that the Sailfish camera app is able to select the sdcard again. It simply doesn't work and all the tipps and tricks which I could read didn'r really show a useful and simple solution.

  • So please please somebody let me know how to make the card visible/writable for the camera again without spending hours again for Troubleshooting.

  • I can't understand why Jolla is creating such a mess regarding this topic.

Thanks to the experts here for help ;)

The missing shortcut to the SD card has been fixed in File Browser version 1.7.2 (available in Jolla Store).

Should there be a problem in making the camera to save the pictures and videos to the SD card directly, visit Settings > Apps > Camera. Tap "Storage" and select "Memory card nn.n GB".

sorry, but the problem with the missing sdcard in pulldown menu of File Browser still exists after update to Version 1.7.2. Camera find my SDcard, File Case (after editing) find my sdcard. The media app also. But File Browser ....

@dirksche... just be sure we are talking about the same menu (not blaming somebody) since I thought as well it is not fixed. Do you mean the pulley menu which you get when you are pulling the screen down? Or do you mean the pulldown menu which you get by click on the folder in the upper right corner? There you should find the SD card.

@vision I'm talking about the shortcut menu that opens if I press on the arrow in the upper right corner next to the name of the direction I'm actually in (nemo etc). There I got just three entries: home, Android Storage and Root

What now? Put "released" in the title?
