Hello community, I was just wondering if official guide to Install Sailfish X to Xperia F5121 is the only way how to install on this cellphone, or if does exist some another way. I am asking because Jolla says in guide that is not possible to put android back on device after Sailfish X installation.

So I was thinking - I own Nexus 4 Mako and I have Sailfish 2.0.5.6 installed on it. It is installed like this: I rooted android and installed TWRP. Then I downloaded CM zip and SFOS zip and installed it via TWRP. It is working flawlessly. Is it possible to use this progress on Xperia X too? This progress even enabled dualboot option. Thanks for reply

That's not true. You can go back to Android but, to get it fully working you have to first backup TA partition with DRM keys.

to be honest I have no idea, didn't look into that. Right now I'm waiting for Sailfish 3 to see how it did improve as current version is useless at least for me :(

I am waiting for 3 too - Jolla told me that will be available even for Xperia X, so I want to buy license, but in advance I am gathering info about its features, because I don´t want cellphone without some working features. So as a daily device I use Nexus 4, where everything works okay.

@Malakay: Regarding dual boot :

Not in the current form :

  • Android and Sailfish both use /dev/mmcblk0p52.
    • Android uses it to store the factory-state of the system (so it can "reset to factory" by purging any user data).
    • Sailfish X uses to store compressed backups of the factory system (so it can "reset to factory" by restoring the backups)
  • Android and Sailfish both use /dev/mmcblk0p51.
    • Android store the user data (anything that the user has installed / upgraded on top of the factory state)
    • Sailfish stores LVM volumes for current uptraded system and for users's home (+android data)

Both OSes require the exact same partition with completely different content and use.

@Malakay, @lolek : which features are you currently missing ? Android 5.0 apps, I would guess ?

I have android apps on my Nexus and no problem, but sometimes is handy to start android tu use Google Apps - but not too often. I don´t want to install Gapps or some replacement to Sailfish to protect my privacy.

It looks like I have done DRM backup at last, so now this question has no more point :) I have done installation via guide by Jolla :)
