Currently camera maker and model are not saved in a photo's EXIF data by the Jolla builtin camera. It would be good to have the information there so for example people can search for images taken with Jolla phones.

For reference, this is the current data I extracted with exiftool from a photo I took this morning:

File Type : JPEG

"so for example people can search for images taken with Jolla phones" - maybe that's why they hide it. ;)

I think it should upon every one selves decision to delete EXIF info and not the phones default.

Every phone camera, SLR, CDC, is imprinting its designation into the EXIF data and so should JOLLA. Software can use this information to enhance the picture as a few already do.

I'm pretty puzzled!!

Looking at the EXIF data of my picture taken with the Jolla phone it looks like that:

Filename - 20140126_003.jpg
XResolution - 72
YResolution - 72
Orientation - Right top
DateTime - 2014:01:26 10:26:41
ExifOffset - 110
ExposureTime - 1/12.9 seconds
FNumber - 2.40
ISOSpeedRatings - 640
ExifVersion - 0230
DateTimeOriginal - 2014:01:26 10:26:41
ShutterSpeedValue - 1/13 seconds
ApertureValue - F 2.40
ExposureBiasValue - 0
MeteringMode - Average
Flash - Flash fired, auto mode
FocalLength - 4.22 mm
FlashPixVersion - 0100
White Balance - Auto

I've no idea why we have two different tables.

But anyway, what is missing in my opinion is the following:

Make - Jolla
Model - JP-1301
ExifImageWidth - 2000
ExifImageHeight - 3552
Autor/Composer - My Name
GPS information: -
GPSLatitudeRef - N
GPSLatitude - 47 34 0 (47.566667)
GPSLongitudeRef - E
GPSLongitude - 9 43 59 (9.733056)
GPSAltitudeRef - Sea level
GPSAltitude - 469.50 m
GPSImgDirectionRef - True direction
GPSImgDirection - 107

Of course GPS should be turned off by default.

Additional EXIF info would be a really useful selling point.

I completely agree about make/model and optional GPS tags. I have more than 20,000 images in my library taken by at least a dozen different cameras, so sorting by make and/or model is really nice for me.

Model - Jolla This is wrong, it should be JP-1301 or above, is a mistake by Jolla

redge73 ( 2014-03-14 01:04:34 +0200 )edit

@redge73: I don't care if it's JP-1301 or Jolla (as Jolla is the "human readable" name of the device), but currently it's neither and that's the problem.

@Nicd: I agree with the second statement, no EXIF entry for model nor make. Since Jolla has planned at least a second phone and even the first phone may has different HW-revisions the correct model name would be highly recommended.
