For some versions (even from before 3.0.0.x) I noticed some Javascript regressions on two of my favourite sites.

Version2

  • The top-right "sandwich-menu" doesn't work

Ingeniøren

  • The top-left "sandwich-menu" and the top-right user menu doesn't work - Front page
  • Below the comments, the "Vis alle" ("Show all") button doesn't work - Example article

Both sites used to work just fine.

Edit: Correct paths

I can't for certain say, that they haven't, but AFAIRC it happened at a 2.x.x update.

tbh I'm surprised that people are still using Sailfish Browser. It's extremely outdated (it's based on firefox 38!), slow and doesn't support modern js features. Just install Firefox on aliendalvik, it will make your life much better.

  • I don't like the UI of Firefox. It's cramped, where the stock browser is intuitive, conserves space, and simply fits better in the SailfishOS context.
  • If no one uses it, Jolla has no incentive to improving it.

So I choose to be patient and file my bug reports 😉 Probably in vain...

I also using sailfish browser and also webcat.

I do not know why people using android browser in sailfish? Maybe because I'm quite modest for browser features/properties.

Is both native browsers slower than "best" android browsers? Anyway sailfish only emulates android so I don't think so it can be faster than webcat.

Privacy policy might also reason for using android browser, I speculating.

Afrerall I see at least three cons when using android browser;

  1. Battery consumption is higher

  2. Android back/return button takes screen space from bottom of screen.

  3. No dynamic cover page+cover action buttons in sailfish multitask view.
