Here maps native application
Dear JollaHQ,
Can you please bring a native Here maps application to the Sailfish platform. We are missing a turn-to-turn navigation and we don't want it to be based on any Google mapping data. Here maps would be an awesome solution that also pays tribute to the Nokia past.
We even want to pay for this app!
I'm using Pure Maps from OpenRepos, has turn-to-turn navigation and offline maps. You should give it a try.
Also, HERE Maps has Ad tracking, so not so "free" anymore. Don't know if they have an option to pay fir the app to get rid of the privacy intrusion.
Edit: Pure Maps require OSM Scout Server for offline maps.
raketti ( 2018-11-21 08:51:50 +0200 )editWhy are we not having these apps available in the Jolla store?
Open-repos, requirements, dependencies... We are living in the age of convenience... People want to install an app and use it.
Please publish these apps to the Jolla Store if they work great.
JSEHV ( 2018-11-21 09:03:59 +0200 )editAnd implement a payment system! Paying the devs should be made easy, and everybody deserves some kind of reward for making the effort and adding value to SFOS, e.g. by a navigation app.
Kopekenscheich ( 2018-11-21 09:26:08 +0200 )edit@JSE: Pure Maps (and some other apps as well) aren't in the Jolla Store, because of this: Allow linking to libsystemd, libsystemd-daemon, libresolv, and libcap #102
So Jolla needs to update the rpmvalidator to accept more features for the apps that are submitted.
There's usually some donation links in the app descriptions for the users to choose from in the OpenRepos (Storeman) apps. Since Jolla's co-operation with Flattr ended, I haven't heard it/when they're bringing donations/payments back to the Jolla Store.
