At the moment there is no possibility to disable the mobile network connection (GSM/UMTS/LTE) alone. You can just set in flight mode which disables WLAN as well.

On the N900 there is an etxra package called cell-modem-ui which adds the option to activate "tablet mode" which comes in quite handy when you are in an area that has absolutely no cellular coverage but a good wifi connection (like in some cellars or even planes ;)

So please offer the option to turn off cellular connection alone.

It is possible to only have WLAN active: - activate flight mode (turns off all radio) - activate WLAN (mobile connection stays off) - additionally/alternatively you can also enable bluetooth in flight mode

I found out about this only throgh trial and error. In my opinion, it would be more intuitive, if we had a button to toggle the cellular connection by itself.

Maybe I misunderstand your question, but it is already possible to disable the different communictaion devices WLAN, mobile network and Bluetooth on its own. Flight mode will disable all of them. Maybe you should add "mobile networking" to your favourite settings? Do it by long pressing on your service operator in "mobile network" to add it to your favourite settings

I'm interested in this, but didn't find the menu entry. I go to settings-> system settings-> mobile network (is the one below Bluetooth) -> my 3G network is shown on the top right, but long press does nothing.

Thank you

You should press long on your operators name, then a menu pulls up from under your operators name: edit and add/remove to favourits. After adding it, it appears on top of the very first page of the settings app.
