I noticed that my Xperia X with Sailfish OS (build 3.0.0.8) is acting strange when in a low reception area (basement). The phone showed 2G connectivity and when I unlocked it, it just started to open minimized apps, switching ambiences, writing "Xxxzxzxzxzxxx [..]" if app allows text input. Phone did it itself, I was not pressing any buttons.

It was weird the first time, but it happened the second time in the same place (basement) and only there, therfore I came to conclusion that 2G coverage is somehow causing this.

Has anybody else experienced their Xperia X to "have mind of its own" in low reception/2G coverage area?

@Dzelziis did you make sure the edges of the (touch) screen were clean? water or dirt can cause a conductive connection to the frame. i have had that causing weird inputs through the touch screen when only touching the frame.

A faulty/low quality usb cable or wall socket could also cause such issues if the device was connected to it.

I have the same issue. Actually I think it started before 3.0.0.8. As soon as the 3G reception is poor, the phone is acting as if it were possessed by a demon ;) opening/closing stuff without touching the screen.

@Dam are you also using an Xperia X? because i use a jolla1 and im contantly in area with poor coverage for 4G/3G/2G, but i have never experienced sth described before...

@misc11, yes I use an XperiaX, never had this issue before on jolla1. I'm pretty certain this is related to bad 3g reception as it only happen when reception is bad. If I manage to disable 3G while the phone is acting crazy, the crazyness stops. If you want to experience it, go to my cousin's place ;)

Actually I had similar situation, but not sure is it related to bad coverage. I always lock my phone and it is set to lock immediately when power button is pressed. I noticed yesterday that couple of apps were open which I rarely use and there was one sms message full of random characters.

I'm running 3.0.0.8 and Xperia X with fingerprint sensor activated. Automatic locking set to happen after 10 minutes
