Ok, Jolla, I got the idea. Quick settings are always accessible, just like in Android (and, to some extent, N9).

But having to choose the correct place to start swiping if you want to close an app is a bit finicky, especially in winter when you use the phone in gloves. Especially when the screen is not that big (like in original Jolla Phone or Xperia X Compact that I'm using).

Also one may argue that the layout possible in Sailfish 2, where each edge had its own dedicated function, was much more coherent and logical. Also, for me personally, having the quick settings and atmospheres accessible with not one, but two swipes, was quite alright (since they are available everywhere with long press of the power button anyway — the "gesture" that N9 didn't have).

So please bring back the option to use the whole top-edge swipe for closing the current app. Just like the setting we had in Sailfish 2.

(and while you're at it, please update the kernel for X, everybody laughs at me for having 3.10 in 2018)

Having the quick settings only on the home screen would be good enough for me. Everywhere else the downswiipe would close the current app.

In my opinion there should be following gesture for closing apps: Start right or left side of screen no matter, and then move finger towards middle of screen after that swipe to bottom of screen. Quite simple, somebody suggested this earlier.

Was seriously unaware of the power button long press for settings. Thanx!

Yes, make the top menu optional. But also make the close gesture optional - I had it disabled before and I don't want it now. But I do like the top menu.
