Hi!

I would like to edit the /etc/hosts file, so wipe out google (facebook and so on) from my phone. How to install nano text editor on my Sailfish X? I use Linux since 10 years, but VI is a bit complicate for me... Sorry my bad english. Thank you!

"How to install nano"

devel-su pkcon install nano

Agreed, Vi is totally not intuitive, so I also use nano

That's a funny notion since I have been using vi for more than 30 years and to me it seems it still is the best editor ever...

In your opinion.

TinyEdit and StartAsRoot for TinyEdit might be useful for you. It's what I use to write stuff where the OS wouldn't like me to. ;)

You should also check out Defender. Maybe the predefined lists will be enough to suit your needs and you don't even have to poke around in the etc/hosts yourself.

You can also have a look at tiDE. Comes with root modus. You can find it on Storeman.

How do you activate root mode?

Goto terminal and type devel-su after having activated developer mode in Settings.

Hi All!

Happy New Year for all members!

I would like to close this, because I had got the answer. Many thanks! A new question : Where possible to report a ( very annoying ) problem with Xperia X Os?

Thank you!

This is a good forum to report everything related to SailfishOS. Try to search first, if somebody has reported an issue before and join that dicussion. If not make a new separate question!
