Android, text editing, typed text does not insert at cursor position
As noted in a recent comment by @teemu in this bug https://together.jolla.com/question/159260/vkeyboard-backspace-and-some-special-characters-additionally-insert-predictive-text/ if you position the cursor in the middle of the text in a textarea and type, the text is often (always?) inserted where the cursor was before and/or at the end.
In my case this has coincided with the predictive text bug disappearing - which might be coincidence.
To get around it, you need to click outside the textarea to shut down the keyboard and then click back to the textarea to make the text input recognize the change in the position of the cursor.
Annoying as heck if you are prone to use online forums and typo a lot and be inclined to fix them.
In my case I still have the text prediction bug on Jolla C Aqua Fish 3.0.1.11, but have this one (instead of the text prediction bug) on my new installation XA2 3.0.1.14.
@DaveRo apparently did a new installation on Jolla C 3.0.1.11 and got this one active. Is there perchance some old previously installed Xt9InputHandler file acting up after an upgrade that causes the text prediction one?
teemu ( 2019-03-08 11:06:24 +0200 )editBug also appears on my Jolla Phone under SFOS 3.0.1.11!
Pohli ( 2019-03-08 13:51:35 +0200 )editWorkaround: type space, the backspace, then relocate the cursor.
Direc ( 2019-04-02 15:32:55 +0200 )editThis is also an issue for me (Sailfish 3.2.1 20, Xperia XA2). FWIW it occurs consitently in some apps (Evernote, Outlook) and not others (Nextcloud Notes).
mattpenn ( 2019-12-29 13:03:38 +0200 )editbug is still present in SFOS 3.3.0.14 on Xperia 10 and, e.g., Brave browser.
