Description

I tried to charge my Sony Xperia XA2 running Sailfish X with a Huawei SuperCharge charger (Model: HW-050450E00 using the original 5A USB-C cable): First the charging works for about 15 minutes but then it just stops charging and disconnects.

Expected Behaviour

I don't expect a support for the proprietary charging protocol but I expect that my Sailfish device is able to charge on any USB cable (using the USB-PD protocol?!).

Affected devices and versions

I tested this with my Sony Xperia XA2 (Dual-SIM) running Sailfish OS 3.0.1.

Further information

I suppose that there is some issue with the USB Power Delivery protocol (USB-PD).

Here is an overview of all available fast charging protocols: https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/how-does-fast-charging-work/

From the specifications I have seen, the XA2 supports quick charge 3, not usb-PD.

I have had strange results when using a QC3 charger, including no charging and continuous charging start/stop, all caused by bad USB cable.

Have you tried with another cable?

USB-PD works way better than QC3. The XA2 need some time to accept the High Voltage Charging with CQ3. The display goes on an off while the phone is locked. USB-PD works directly, but charges not so fast as QC3 does...

Try the app charge monitor, my pazzimo EP712198 charger consumes around 12W with USB-PD. Another charger: oplic QC3.0 consumes 17W, but the display blinks 9 times before charging is stable....
