Since update to 3.0.2.8 Android apps should be able to use mobile data via SIM1 (on XA2+, Vodafone Germany). This works (sometimes) after a reboot of the device, unfortunately it stops working if AlienDalvik crashes and restarts. This requires a new reboot. This makes mobile data more or less useless for me.

Edit 28.07.19 (XA2 single sim [3.1.0.11]) :

There are still al lot of mainstream apps, that do not work outside the WiFi-range (on mobile data). For example: HERE Maps, DB Navigator (train app in Germany), Shazam, ... Maybe there is a thing that all those apps depend on, so Jolla could look into this...

What's the protocol in use? IP / IPv6 / Dual?

@raketti it was set to dual, as German mobile operators still don't know V6 I switched to IP only and will check again.

I would be surprised if that made a change. I don't have issues with Sailfish apps, only Android. Have you figured out any change if you switch that option?

I do find the IP protocol to be more reliable as the v6 is somewhat poorly supported also in Finland (at least to my knowledge).

Why are there so few up-votes? Does mobile data for Android apps actually work fine for most people, now? We're trying to use Conversations (XMPP-Client) and it always shows "not connected" when on mobile data (also with Sailfish 3.0.2.8).

No, sadly it's not fixed. I just tried "Conversations" again with Sailfish 3.0.3.8 and it still does not work on mobile data. (While it's working fine on WiFi.) On mobile data it always says "No Internet Connection" (and also does not connect.) p.s. Firefox on the other hand does work on mobile data.

I aggree, it has improved, but it's still not reliable.

Not sure what you mean with "improved" and "not reliable". It reliably does not work with Conversations in 100% of the cases. No improvement, no works sometimes or something. Just: "No Internet Connection". I would assume Conversations registers to some Android event that is just never triggered for mobile data.

I can also confirm this is not fixed with 3.0.3.8. Some apps do have at least partial mobile connection, others would never get connected. All apps seem to work with WLAN connection. However, if mobile connection doesn't work, even when WLAN is available somehow afterwards (if you come in range of a know network, or if WLAN was off before), one has to reboot the phone or at least the android support (aliendalvik, I suppose..) so the android apps finally get the WLAN connection. So either it works on app-start or it never will during runtime. This is - in my opinion - another aspect of the issue.

I seem to be having the same issue (XA2, Sailfish 3.0.3.10). My mobile network connection is fine for Sailfish apps and some android apps, but most android apps (whatapp, store, etc) are not able to connect to the internet via the mobile network. The same android apps do connect via WLAN.
