The language of the auto-suggestions is controlled by the language associated with the currently selected virtual keyboard (and as both German and English use latin alphabet with nearly-the-same Qwertzu / Qwerty layouts, the auto correct language is the most prominent difference between the two keyboards, while the buttons are roughly the same. As opposed to, say, the Bulgarian keyboard which exposes completely different Cyrillic alphabet on the buttons of the virtual keyboard)
To set it:
Settings* app -> System section -> Text Input tool (The one with the keyboard icon), then in the Text Input page :
- Using the Keyboards button in the middle of the page, you can select which {keyboard layouts+languages} are available (check that at least Deutsch is selected)
- Using the Active keyboard drop down at the top of the page, you select with {keyboard layout+language} is used by default. (check that Deutsch is the current default, not English)
While typing text, you can also swipe the whole keyboard to the left or right to cycle through the layouts. Alternatively, you can long-press on the spacebar button and get a drop-down list of keyboards.
( ^- I suspect that this is what happened: you accidentally switched your layout from Deutsch to English by sliding on the keyboard. You still have a familar latin-alphabet on the screen, but due to the language selection, the suggestions are now from English. Use the long-press or swipe gesture to select yours back).
