volume can't be controlled during headphone calls

during a video or audio call I can't set the volume itself. the volume can be changed, I can make it louder but only the ringtone volume. it's somehow connected. I usually have my phone in silent mode but when I increase the volume all sounds turn on.
also the maximum loudness is too low compared to android on a XA2 plus
