Keyboard popping up every time in sms.
Hi there, looks like there is an annoying bug with keyboard, it pops-up every time when reading a new sms message notification from the event window, clicking on the message in the event window opens that message in the sms list, but the keyboard always immediately pops up, unnecessarily reducing the sms reading window, and even if the reply space has not been clicked on....this is very annoying, because it forces the user to hide the keyboard if no reply is intended.
I recently upgraded my Sailfish experience from a Sony Xperia X to a new XA2 Ultra, I had always had experienced this same bug on the older Xperia X (even mentioned about it time ago) , and am now finding that is is also there in my new, just flashed XA2 Ultra with 3.0.3.10 Hossa , so this bug is almost certainly not related to my older phone or a misconfiguration , wonder why this has never observed by someone else ?...
Be advised that this only happens when clicking sms notifications in the event window, and not by opening sms list from the sms icon.
this kind if rough UX is normal in sailfish. just tap the url in the browser to open your bookmarks, the search field is always in focus, so the keyboard is opened.
yes, its annoying, but really, there way bigger flaws that need to be addressed first. most standard apps need a major rework anyway. polishing them comes later.
misc11 ( 2019-06-04 14:16:55 +0200 )editMy guess is: it's not a bug it's a feature! Means as short messages are usually not very long (literally) and developers assume that users usually want to reply immediately virtual keyboard is already opened up for you.
Pohli ( 2019-06-04 19:38:07 +0200 )editBut it is not always the case, and it is probably not too difficult to add an option to choose if keyboard should come up or not, and considering we are so much ahead now, already at release 3.x Sailfish, I think these not so minor things should by now be well more than polished...
I absolutely love what Jolla is doing for us, offering the only true alternative in the smartphone Os panorama, but if they continue with such a slow develpoment, they will hardly reach the level of polishment and features that are present on the current Android and iOS, and users using these systems will hardly ever consider coming to Sailfish as an alternative.
