[3.1.0.11] JP1:Phone app: UI doesn't show up for about 20 s [answered]

3.1.0.11, JP1:Phone app: UI doesn't show up for about 20 s for incomming and outgoing calls on my phone. Reboot doesn't change much if at all. Observed only once the UI showing up immediatly on incomming call.
Symptoms: unlock with power button before call, "call in progress" shows up timely, acuses tap but nothing happens. Accepting call with headset works. No reaction to power button. "top" doesn't show anything suspicious. If the screen is dark, no signs of incomming call (except headset). If in history of phone app, no signs of incomming except that the power button doesn't react, headset ok.
As commented to the release notes, the lag is there too for dialing out. Apparently, more people saw this.

Edit 1: Just answered a call with the headset, UI eventually showed up, stayed there jumping all the time, screen on.At some point I swiped down like to answer the call, the UI changed as expected, the timer started to count.
Edit 2: On a dark screen, it might light up or not.
Edit 3: Another observation that might be related but wasn't able to confirm: I have the impression that a OOM situation might trigger some problems.
Symptoms:
A) Settings -> personal ringtones: Empty at some point. If I go up and enter personal ringtones again, it gets populated. If it gets empty, all numbers ring with default tone, till it gets populated by entering its settings twice.
The UI might show up timely when personal ringtones doesn't get populated (not confirmed).
B) Bluetooth: List of paired devices gets empty, connecting paired devices doesm't work. Only fix so far is reboot.
C) I observed A+B since SFOS 3, coincident with Email App crashing on start up for 5 minutes (then I gave up) (not only once!), messageserver and/or tracker extract get around 800 MB.

Hi, I got the same behavior on both Aqua converted to JollaC and on XA2. It is showstopper for me. Not able to use my phone.

@pemek thanks! This means, I won't update the Xperia X that my wife is using...

Remove personal ringtones (eg zypper rm personalringtones). It has helped in my case.

@pemek did you add personal ringtones back again?

after re-instalation - lag returned, so personal ringtones causes the problem.

I suppose it has been proved that issue is caused by Personal Ringtones by @coderus. Uninstalling Personal Ringtones removes problem.

1) agreed:
[W] unknown:0 - tp-qt 0.9.7 WARN: Properties::GetAll(Connection) failed with "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied": "Caller must be privileged"
[D] IncomingChannel::channelInvalid:35 - "org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Qt.Error.Orphaned" "Connection given as the owner of this channel was invalidated"
This is the personalringtones process complaining.
2) Without distinctive ringtones, it remains a stupid phone...

That's too bad! Waited updating in case of appearing problems - but this thread I unfortunately read AFTER updating. Bugger! No personal ringtones is a showstopper, really. I sincerely hope @coderus is bothered too and hopefully looking in to it successfully.

Hmmm... not many people complaining. So, why should @coderus push this up in his priority list??

A.Maretzek ( 2019-08-07 02:02:12 +0200 )edit

Well, there is a slight chance he's using 'personal ringtones' like we do (did).

But either way - many thanks to @coderus that he provided 'personal ringtones' in the first place. Different ringtones is a must have!!! and the blacklist/whitelist feature was useful to get rid of automated calls by some advertising company.

Elsewhere he stated that he is on 3.0.x...
