Share only specific contacts (group) to Android / secondary address book
What about a possibility to share only specific (selected) contacts to Android / AlienDalvik?
Would come handy to not broadcast the private phone book to all (unfortunately necessary) Android apps.
Or provide a different address (phone) book for Android?
I assume first option is better. As done on some Samsungs with DualMessenger functionality. There you can select the contacts you want to share to the second instances of apps.
<sarcasm> Now that we have notes in the address book I guess maybe 2025 this could be released. If at all... </sarcasm> Or maybe I am proven wrong here (would love to) and after the overhaul of people app this is piece of cake and done in next release? ;)
-- bump, just to bring this once more to @jolla attention after 3.3.0 release
I would love to see this implemented.no high hopes though ...

People table could have extra boolean for this purpose and filtered view for undroid.
potski ( 2019-07-29 16:58:23 +0200 )editI am a bit astonished how less votes this got.
I would have expected a lot more attention. Or does majority do not use android layer at all? Or -even worse- they do not care about their contacts' privacy?
I am using OpenContacts from f-droid for now having imported my WA (yes I am using devil's stuff :shiver:) ontacts via vcf. But this leaves me with phone numbers only and no names in WA. And no other android app can read any contact...

peterleinchen ( 2019-09-03 01:20:07 +0200 )editThis would indeed make sense when we get the long awaitet groups for contacts. Specifying for each contact would be a bit overkill. But allowing per group would be nice.
There was a request to allow phonebook access allowance per App. But this feature never came. So I have no hope for this request...
SaimenSays ( 2019-09-03 18:24:31 +0200 )editWhat I'd like to have is ability, to limit for each android app which details it may access through the address book. For example: Don't expose names, company, nick, address, birthdays, comments, phone numbers to skype. Default should be none. Then each contact may have tags or list of allowed apps. By default, android app can access only entries it created with general limits described above. Such an option would be able to granularly specify what is exposed through which application.
