Bug: All screen touches are interpreted as long-presses in Android applications [not relevant]

Occasionally touch control under AlienDalvik stops reacting to simple touches and starts interpreting them as long-presses. The situation is curable by restarting the aliendalvik.service.

devel-su
systemctl restart aliendalvik.service

When the problem condition is on, the cut'n'paste selector constantly pops up whenever the user touches the screen. All Android applications exhibit the same problem, although it may not be visible if the program UI does not support text selection. The behavior does not happen on the SailfishOS side.

The exact reason is not known, but likelihood of this problem gets higher with Android browsers such as Firefox and Opera. This indicates that it has something to do with scrolling movements on canvas where the thumb often lingers on top of the application, touching the screen.

At least for me the problem has never appeared during the actual use of the browser. I've noticed it after doing something else on SailfishOS and then returning to Android application, namely the browser.

@Manatus Thanks for contributing. I'm trying to reproduce the problem here - Which apps you had running at the time this occured?

I have had this same problem. Mainly with the Android Firefox browser. Nice to know there is an easy terminal side fix!

@simo Unfortunately it is quite a long time when I had this problem last time. I always have these open: Android Opera, and the rest would all be Sailfish programs Calendar, Phone app, Mail. Often Terminal and maybe Gallery. Not Meecast, as it wasn't released yet when I saw this for the first time.

Not too many... If the browser cache would get huge, this could cause lag to the touch screen, but with such a few other programs I don't think so. In this case, no immediate help from here :(

No problem. I'll be on the lookout for the next time. Although that may not come if the native browser gets more usable in the next update... :)
