Hello everybody, let me present myself to the Community. My name is Brian and I live in Italy. I am a Jolla and Sailfish newbie (I bought my first Jolla 1 device here only a couple of weeks ago) and I will be needing your help to understand a few things. For example: how do I sign out of Google Play Store and sign in with another username? The following threads
https://together.jolla.com/question/141070/how-to-sign-out-of-google-play-store/ https://together.jolla.com/question/30926/howto-install-google-play-on-original-jolla-phone-sbj/?sort=votes&page=2#sort-top suggest the I should delete or rename /opt/alien/data/system/sync/accounts.xml and /opt/alien/data/system/users/0/accounts.db. The problem is I do not have permission to view the system folder. I tried to change permissions through Terminal application but it seems I am not allowed to do it or, very likely, the command I typed was wrong. I would appreciate other sailors advice and help. Thanks in advance

Thank you @aspergerguy, once again you come to my rescue :). I would like to improve the aesthetics of my Jolla 1, do you by chance have spare TOH, frame and/or housing?

I ‘studied’ a little bit and managed to solve the problem.

I suppose the steps below are obvious and simple for many of you, but this was my first encounter with Terminal app and commands. Anyway this is how you do it:

  1. Activate “Developer mode” and “Remote connection” (you have to choose or generate a password for this).
  2. Open Terminal app (it gets installed when you activate Developer mode) and get root access by entering “devel-su” (without quotation marks) and then the password set during step 1. Always in Terminal app:
  3. Type “chmod -R a+rwX opt/alien/data/system/sync/accounts.xml” and “chmod -R a+rwX /opt/alien/data/system/users/0/accounts.db” always (always without quotation marks) to get permission to rename ore delete “accounts.xml” and “accounts.db” where google account and name are saved.
  4. Reboot your Jolla (this is important, I lost a lot of time because of it) and its done: when you open Google Play Store you can enter new login data. I read somewhere that it’s not mandatory to reboot your Jolla, you can restart Alien Dalvik by typing “systemctl restart aliendalvik.service” in the Terminal app but I have not verified if it works.
