In Settings => USB, if you select "Always ask", your device will always connect in "Charge only" mode without asking.

@objectifnul i already observed it with the former release shortly before upgrade to the new one. now it works with the 3.2.0.12 .
I had an other problem with the sound level after the reboot which happened after the upgrade. after a further reboot it disappeared. maybe try to reboot your device again. maybe it will work like for me with my issue

@cemoi71 Following multiple incidents, I think I've rebooted dozens of times recently. This didn't restore "always ask" for usb, the sound bar is still missing, as well as the doubletap zoom gesture in jolla browser.

I get sound after reboot shortly. always ask appear again to me.i just have the problem of sdcard auto-mount after reboot. doesn't happen automatically...
