When I switch on WLAN at one location, I very often get the "Select Internet connection" panel, and lots of access points show up. Just the one that I want (and that I configured) does not, even though it is by far the strongest. I can connect to it from Linux, iOS, and Android, without any problems.

When this happens, it sometimes helps to wait a day or two, and then it connects, automatically to the same access point. Restarting the network subsystem (from Settings -> Utilities) or rebooting the phone never seems to help. When I go to another location where I have WLAN access, it then works nicely.

This is with SFOS 3.2.1.20 on an Xperia 10. I tried to search this forum, but couldn't figure out if this is a known issue. If so, is there a real workaround? Any way to debug the problem? It is pretty annoying to not be able to connect to WiFi for a whole day...

That sounds really weird, but from https://t.me/jolla it sounds like SFOS for Xperia 10 is far from stable, although maybe sold as such.

OK, it never gets so bad for me that the phone gets unresponsive. I just never get connected to the one access point for which I have the password... (Well, today it worked.)

I noticed something similar on my Xperia X lately, but in most cases it "repaired" itself on its own after a few minutes. In one case I successfully entered the login credentials in the "connect with hidden network"-menu, in another I rebooted the phone. When the problem occurred I tried to find the network with the "wifi analyzer"-app from Petr Vytovtov, but even there it wasn't visible, so I guess it's a system wide problem.

For my point of view it's whenever you lose your connection repeatedly because you're to far away / the wifi is too weak for a stable connection. Seems the phone is kind of offended then. It's the same with the crappy mobile connections in Germany, after a while of seesaw the phone denies the possibility of a connection, even if you are back in 4G range. Restarting the ofono service is the most often thing I do with my phone, that's how to entertain a Sailfish fan these days....

I have also a Sony Xperia 10 and the same problems with WIFI. Sometimes I can't connect to my home WIFI.
I solved this with the app ShellEx and the command systemctl restart ofono
Thits works for me as an workarround but it is an bug. Maybe it helps?

Update 15.02.2020: Tomorrow it works not by me. Sorry I solved it with out restart with the flight modus for 1 min and switch on Wifi. I will see how command we can use.

That systemctl command is what the network system restart from the Settings -> Utilities menu does, right?

@pw338: That's a good question, I'd also like to know. Once I filed an issue at Github: https://github.com/sailfishos/sailfish-utilities/issues/50

By now, some of the other systems have problems with this access point as well, so I guess it's not a problem with SFOS or the phone but with the hardware at the other end.
