Android maps can't find my location (Sony Xperia XA2)
I have this problem couple months. I can't use like example Here maps because application can't find me. It complains I have no GPS connection. I tried Google maps, too, but it didn't find me, too.
I've the same problem with Here maps. Native GPS-Info and native Pure Maps work as expected. Also Android App GPSTest shows fix and correct location.
If I uninstall Here and reinstall it it works for one time. Actaually it happend to me that I was successfully navigating using HERE (after new installation), I switched to another app for some information, switched back to HERE and the location in HERE had gone and never came back. My wife already takes the piss out of me and my phone, that it navigation doesn't work. It even worked on my Psion 5 in the 90th. It's so embarrassing.
Google maps, however, works - as far as I experimented so far. <edit>native Pure maps is great, but not a substitute for HERE, and sometimes it's rather creative in selecting routes.</edit>

cquence ( 2020-03-31 15:58:40 +0200 )editbest thing is to turn location on, open a native app that uses gps and after a lock open the application you want to use. if this doesn't work, restart alien dalvik if it still doesn't work, restart the device (and I guess you have already tried other positioning methods?)

I mean if it happens that you even loose you location fix if you put HERE maps into background and switch back it is a clear sign that it's not reliable at all.
I'm wondering if it's more stable for other XA2 / X10 users?
jollajo ( 2020-03-31 17:55:24 +0200 )editAs out-of-the-box solution, you could work on https://github.com/rinigus/pure-maps/issues/275 . When completed, you will be able to use HERE API from Pure Maps, including routing. When compared to Android HERE, you will just have HERE maps as 2D map, without tilt, as that's what they provide for web API.
