Is the Qt Webbrowser available for SailfishOS?

https://doc.qt.io/QtWebBrowser doesn't look particular bad and might be an alternative to the Sailfish Browser in particular on devices where no Alien Dalvik is available. I couldn't find neither a precompiled package nor the source, though. Thanks.

With some luck and modern device you can try flatpak angelfish browser: https://github.com/sailfishos-flatpak/main

Thank you coderus. I will give it a try on my XA2. I guess it wouldn't help much on my Gemini, since the Gemini kernel is 3.18 and flatpack seems to depend on at least v3.5...

On XA2 you have to wait for Sailfish 3.3.. to use flatpaks. For flatpak you need libhybris 0.0.5.34 or newer.

@inte 3.18 > 3.5 ...isn't it?

No, it's not available.

"The browser is optimized for embedded touch displays (running Linux), but you can play with it on the desktop platforms, too! Just make sure that you have Qt WebEngine, Qt Quick, and Qt VirtualKeyboard installed (version 5.7 or newer)."

SailfishOS uses Qt in 5.6 version

Oh, I thought SfOS was already on 5.9 since v3 (as the current LTS appears to be 5.12). Time for an update, hopefully straight to 5.12. Thank you for clarification!

Originally the plan was to upgrade Qt in SailfishOS 3, but Jolla still can't say when they update Qt and still don't know if they upgrade to 5.9 or 5.12. Even during the last community meeting (2020-03-19) they couldn't answer these questions.

Yes, and it's incredible how much this issue is blocking sailfish developement backward...

@d You, among other things old Qt 5 is blocking Wayland update (which is blocking Firefox IIRC) and also Pure Maps from being in Jolla Store due to the old version of Qt Location available by default.
