Good afternoon,

I know there was already a question like this which has been closed as completed/done/working ( https://together.jolla.com/question/210455/no-contact-picker-found-on-device-threema/)

I was working with Threema for some time on my Xeria XA2+ and did the update for Rokua (3.3.0.16) some weeks ago. Since this date I get a notification in Threema (version 4.33) telling me "No contact picker found on device"

So I went into settings / Apps / Threema / Andoid Settings and made sure the permissions for this app included the contacts.

They do ( permissions are set to allow camera, contacts, memory, phone) and there have been several restarts in the meantime, but I am note able to map a contact in Threema to one in the adress book.

I have no idea wht else is missing, other android applications are also abe o access the address book. Des anybody hae an idea ?

Many anks !

Can you explain step by step? How can you reproduce that?

In Threema ( downloaded from the threema shop as .apk I have my contact list which is via transfer from my old phone. I can add new accounts by entering the ID, these entries are shown with one red dot only. Clicking on one of them I get the contact details like Threema-ID, fingerprint and the mapped address book contact. When I try to modify it and tiponto the mapped name I get a window giving me two options:

  1. Remove link ( Verknüpfung aufheben )
  2. Choose another contact ( Anderen Kontakt wählen )

Selecting the 2nd option results in the error message : No contact picker found on device.

I guess you allowed contacts for Threema in settings :)

The Dalvik in 3.3 also behaves strange to me. In most apps file and contact picker does not work like expected. Can you change your picture in your profile or send pictures in chat? Do you get a file picker?

Yes I can send pictures in chats. I get also a file picker, but some times I can't select a file and get back into the application. Then it's time for a reboot of the phone.

You need to install a contact app like "Simple Contacts" from F-Droid. Aliendalvik alone cannot offer contacts. AD doesn't have an preinstalled Android app for that.

I am not using Aliendalvik, it's just plain Jolla and it#s was working fine before the update

You really confuse me. You use Threema without Aliendalvik? How does it work?

I have tried:

Without "Simple Contact" I get the message "No contact picker ..."

With "Simple Contact" installed, the contact selection works.

The Aliendalvik of SFOS 3.3 differs from the older versions. It looks like version 3.3 no longer has its own contact selection and needs the help of a separate app. This Dalvik is a step backwards. It was getting better.

This is possible and happens sometimes. The system is just plain jolla with android support. From the installed android store I downloaded Whatsapp (access to jolla contacts no issue), Telegram (access to jolla contacts no issue) and Threema with the apk-file from the Threema store. Since the update to Rokua I get the message with the update picker in Threema, it wasn't a problem before using Nuuksio.

Aliendalvik (AD) and Dalvik (Nickname) is the Android support.

Try it. Download "Simple Contact" and Threema can select contacts again. As I wrote, the Dalvik has problems in Rokua. Jolla has optimized the Android support for the mainstream apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram and thereby added some bugs for other apps that occur randomly. I have massive problems with Threema, Conversations and many other apps and can no longer attach pictures or files. For contacts in Threema, I only see contacts when I install an Android Contacts app.

Android support in Rokua is a big step backwards and buggy. Discussions as to whether it was possible earlier are pointless. Btw, my Threema also comes from the Threema store.
