Hello everybody,

I'm new to Sailfish OS (Sony XA2, SFOS 3.3.0.16) and trying to establish a VPN connection from my phone to my home Router (Fritz!Box 7490). I'm quite familiar with setting up this VPN connection from my Android phone (LineageOS 17.1) but unfortunately this is pretty difficult now.

This is what I did so far: I followed the instructions from https://sailfishmods.de/2019/05/tippstricks-fritzbox-vpn-unter-sailfishos-einrichten/ - installed an new vpnc from http://repo.merproject.org/obs/home:/Nokius:/sfos-playground/sailfish_latest_armv7hl/armv7hl/vpnc-0.5.3.svn550-1.2.1.jolla.armv7hl.rpm - By doing so the vpnc-0.5.3.1.3.1.jolla was replaced by vpnc-0.5.3.svn550-1.2.1.jolla automatically. - I configured the SFOS VPN GUI according to the instructions but I never managed to get it connected to my myfritz account.

Has anybody some good experiences with that? I just wanted to mention that: - I tried to connect from outside(!) the network (by 4G-cellular network) - I noticed that my GUI had a slightly different layout than the pictures in the instructions shown... my phone asked for the shared secred/account details in a seperat step (maybe this can be hint for an installation error/wrong GUI etc...)

I'd be happy to hearing from you in this matter.

All the best, EWo

Here I am still on 3.2.1.20 (and it seems to manifest that this was a wise decision!).

I compiled the (patched) vpnc sources always on my own and installed in /usr/sbin.
I can still connect via CLI and via the GUI with my Fritz.

So maybe another regression/bug with SFOS 3.3?

Hey guys, thanks for your reply. According to the mentioned link above it should be updated for SFOS 3.3. That's why I'm so confused...

Hi! This is one of my big questions still unresolved, too ...

we have here this question answer comment game. so you should convert to a comment.

If you know the command line ofnLinux you may download the source package, apply the patch, compile and install yourself. But I am sure Nokius did it right (and he is a trusted one). But the source package number is quite older.
Sorry for not being more helpful, but I have decided to stay with 3.2...

I installed the new updated package for 3.3.0.16 and got the VPN to my FritzBox sucessfully running. The screenshots on sailfishmods.de don't match the updated GUI and figuring out wich field needs wich information wasn't intuitive. If i remeber correctly some parts of the configuration aren't configured before you try to connect for the first time. I'm sure it was the PSK and probably the username (for the second time) that needs to be typed in after configuring the VPN when you try connect for the first time.

In conclusion: The updated package is fine and working but the Howto on sailfismods.de doesn't match the new GUI and some of the fields (like PSK) are not part of the initial configuration anymore. They will be asked when you connect for the first time.
