Bluetooth audio works for phone calls in car, but not music

Using the default Jolla media player. Calls work perfectly fine. Incoming and outgoing. Connecting to a 2018 BMW M4, if that helps at all.

Same problem here.
XA2 Plus / Sailfish 3.3.0.16 (fresh install) / 2019 BMW I3
BT pairs flawlessly, calls go through no problem, contacts are synced, everything looks fine EXCEPT non phone audio.
I've tried the built in media player, Youtube on the default browser, Youtube on android' Brave browser, YT player, etc. No sound at all from any of those apps.
It used to work flawlessly on my OG Jolla with Sailfish 2.
Any suggestion is welcome.

Same problem here with different symptoms. Audio from music starts to play but car sound level is set ro 0 after 5-10 seconds. After increasing volume in the car the sound level is set to zero again.
vw passat 2015, calls working flawlessly.

you should say something about the rest of your set up. With my parrot, bluetooth is automatically connected when started, but for playing music I have to choose the audio seperately

I have experienced many combinations (perhaps all combinations) in cars from no connect, connect and nothing and so on. It's definitely hit or miss and I've tried at least 20 cars. There is no pattern. Toyota is batting 3:1, so it can vary by brand and model :(
