Hello everyone!

Would love to have a native app for KDE-connect. If you new to KDE connect please read Albert Vaca's blog.

There are nice features like transfering files from phone to desktop, notifications from phone show up on the desktop and clipboard sharing. Some more features are already planned. Like media player control, SMS answering, syncing stuff a.s.o Could be the replacement of PC-Suite for KDE.

An Android-app exists, which was >5.000 times downloaded. So there might be enough potential users.

Edit: Just discovered that there is already a plan for porting to Jolla. If there is a coder who take the challenge, please get in touch with Alber Vaca.

If you are looking for a remote control please stay patient and wait for QRemoteControl. I am working on it and everything is finished, but QtGraphicalEffects are not allowed currently and, therefore, need a workaround on Jolla.

KDE plans to develop a new Qt-based Client as a possible project for the Google Summer of Code 2015: Link. Let's hope that they find a Student working on that topic. Maybe Jolla could help a little bit on this project :).

Looks like if this project proposal wasn't successful. That's a pity.

Anyway, since the KDE Project is working on Plasma Mobile, their own OS for Smartphones, they will hopefully work on an implementation of KDE Connect for this system, which will certainly be based on Qt5. A port to Sailfish OS should be straightforward then.

I wrote about the following already in a comment above, but I think it is worth a seperate answer.

The KDE Project has recently presented Plasma Mobile, their own Smartphone System. It would be a shame if KDE Connect would not run on this System properly. So there is a good reason for implementing a KDE Connect client based on Qt5. If someone starts to work on it, a port to Sailfish OS should be straightforward.

This subject was just mentioned on the mailing list today, https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kdeconnect/2015-July/001113.html apparently for DBUS enabled Linux hosts (which Mer/Sailfish is), there is no real issue. The thing is the team is apparently targeting portability to Android/Windows/MacOS (no DBUS) with the same, Qt only client.

I would personally love to see more collaboration between KDE and Sailfish.

It seems some work will be done in KDEconnect wich can facilitate compatibility with Jolla http://www.proli.net/2015/08/17/sprinting-kde-connect/
