It would be great to have the option to annotate and highlight documents in the Documents viewer app. I use the Jolla as phone and tablet next to my computer (don't like to use too many devices) and one big part of my daily activity with the iPhone before was reading documents on the go and annotating them to later better find the relevant parts. There are Android apps for that (though not many good ones in Yandex), but it's so tricky to transfer files into and out of the Android environment of the Jolla phone. It seems currently only going root and moving them in terminal is possible. Therefore, it would be great if the Documents app would be enhanced soon, maybe even turn into some kind of basic Office app. Does someone have any workaround suggestions for the meantime?

That would be great, though I've never seen the Maemo app! Am using Xournal on my computer for annotating and like it a lot.

Edit: available from 2.1.0.x in stock document application.

I've implemented a partial annotation support for the document application. It is supporting text (and caret) annotations and highlight annotations. It's based on Poppler of course. It will be available in a future official release.

I thank a lot Pekka Vuorela for its deep and carefull review, and also his advices. Thanks also to the designer team for providing mockups and guidance on how it should be done.

If some want to test (and report possible issues), I've built a RPM package for the 2.0.2.x OS version (it should work also on 2.0.4.x). This RPM is available in my Github repository. I provide it without any warranty. It is not related to Jolla at all, if it's not working, it's not their fault ! It can be installed with devel-su rpm -U --force sailfish-office-1.2.9-1.armv7hl.rpm. Official version can be reinstall with devel-su pkcon install sailfish-office (from a directory not containing the RPM).
