Dialer backspace key in wrong place?

It's an utterly trivial thing but it drives me nuts for the 1 in 10 times I make a call that involves inputting a number:

For me, the backspace 'key' is in the wrong place; rather than being down with the virtual keypad either left or right of the 'call' button it's up at the top on the number display field. I can see this this makes a certain amount of sense in terms of a string of numbers in an input box but I find it irritating to be missing and it's also a stretch for the thumb from bottom to top in one-handed operation. Any chance we can have one at the bottom (in addition to, if not replacing the one at the top?)

What do people think?

The better place for number entry could be right above the first number row then the thumb reach would be still acceptable.

The dialer numbers seem to be on the transparent layer perhaps moving the phonenumber entry field with control buttons is not possible - Hopefully they would be...

I agree with you. The backspace key is definitely in the wrong place and i would also rather see that the number entry is placed just above the first row of numbers.

You're totally right. All th buttons you use for text/numbers input should be together in one place. It makes no sense for backspace to be up there.
