Camera: additional flash options in camera settings

Isn't it more practical to solve this problem with software (automatic red-eye removal). As far as I know, "Red-eye reduction" fires a strobe of flashes before taking the picture to force people to close the pupil. It doesn't always work, it leads to long shutter lag, and it doesn't solve the real cause for red eyes (The flash is near the lens). A smart move would be to place the flash on the opposite side of the device, but this would require new TOHs.

Software related solution is something I was after since I don't believe there is much that could done about the hardware side. An actual high quality camera TOH would great, but not sure could it actually work with current Jolla HW. Maybe in next Jolla though :)

Jollas i2c has a bandwidth of 400kbit/sec, a decent CMOS-Sensor has at least 12bits color depth and 12 MPixels resolution, that is 144'000 kbit of raw data for one picture. Therefore it takes 360 seconds to transfer one image. If you compress the data with gzip, you can save maybe 25%, with integrated signal processing you can transfer jpeg-data in 1 minute. You can't reduce the data enough to have live view, not even if you would use H.264 for video compression (and this would create lag).
