The 3g/Mobile data Icon (two interlinked triangles)is still present when Mobile Data is disabled and WLAN is connected. Starting, using and closing applications that use a data connection does not alter the icon state. It does appear, through checking data counters, that it is using WLan but know way of being certain.

There are a lot of WiFi related issues and i searched 3 pages but could not see the same issues raised.

I have screen shots of this issue which i will add once I determine that this is not a dupe issue.

There are obviously some problems with icons on lock screen: https://together.jolla.com/question/8349/bug-bluetooth-icon-still-showing-on-lockscreen-after-switching-off-bluetooth/. I guess the issue you have is probably not directly related to WiFi but it is rather a bug with the displaying of icons.

I've the same problem the other way round. I'm on 3G/2G the most of the day and the Wifi icon is displayed, although there is no Wifi available.
