On N900 open the terminal and run the following commands:

osso-addressbook-backup -e contacts.vcs
unix2dos contacts.vcs

(the second command fixes missing dos line ending at END:VCARD lines)

Now transfer contacts.vcs file to your Jolla. If you use bluetooth, just tap on the transmitted file and it'll get imported. Otherwise follow the guide: https://jolla.com/guide/#sec-6 (be sure to open the Settings after the file lands on your device).

in my case tapping on the file on jolla after it has been transferred from the n900 resulted in no action... anyone knows why?

Hi, is there a similar easy way to export SMS ? I saw tutorials here but this one for contacts is great. So I wonder for SMS database.

Alternatively, there is also the Bluetooth sync option with the N900:

(This is for those who would rather use the actual UI for some things.)

  1. Enable Bluetooth and visibility on each device (N900 and Jolla): N900 >> Settings >> Bluetooth >> Bluetooth on and Visible. Jolla >> Settings >> Tap Bluetooth Logo or choose System Settings >> Bluetooth.
  2. Pair devices: N900 >> Settings >> Bluetooth >> Devices >> New >> (follow on screen instructions)
  3. Send data to Jolla phone: N900 >> Settings >> Transfer & Sync >> New >> (Next) >> Send data >> Select Jolla Device from list. >> Next.

It works, but then be aware that contacts with extra fields (like skype name) will be copied too, and then that field can not be edited from the phone GUI, but it shows as an IM option (undefined) in the contacts app

it works for contacts AND calendar entries and notes, too, but unfortunately there were many duplicates among contacts and the calendar synchronisation was not quite lossless - for example not all calendar entries synced and the second time I tried to sync was not successful any more...

You don't need to enable bluetooth on the N900 and pair the devices by hand, "Transfer & Sync" will enable bluetooth and search for devices once you select "New". You only need to prepare the Jolla for the transfer.
