Would it be good to have import tool, which would be able to process the backup files of major smartphones such as Nokia, Android, Iphone etc. ?

At least Samsung's Kies is able to do such import from "old" phone to new phone.

Many posts in this forum are requesting function to move all the data from old phone to new phone.

The faster transition from old platform to new platform the better it will be for user point of view - right?

or just improve the sync-tool, like it was on the n9.

I guess, it is not trivial to support it: there are many backup formats and sync engines, including different encryption algorithms, encryption can use some unique device id (e.g. imei) to generate key etc. I think the best way is to involve community to create those tools.

While it is possible to sync data stored in cloud services (like google) and Jolla has already some support and continue to enhance it.

The Nokia 6021 only supports single contact transfer via bluetooth. So I run Nokia Suite and created a backup file (*.nbu). Imported the nbu into a texteditor, cutted out the VCARD range and filtered only the ascii characters and stored as all.vcf. The resulting file could be imported into the Jolla. Around 10min of work.

Hej. If you still have your Nokia running, try a direct sync. I did this with my N9. Direct connection Jolla <>N9 via Bluetooth, choose Synchronization, choose the Master, hit okay and at least on N9 it worked quite well.

I'm using both of them in parallel right now and syncing from time to time is flawless.

with the n9 it works well, thats right, but the old symbian-phones don't have such a sync

Yes it is possible to pair Symbian phone and Jolla, problem is that e.g contacts you need to except one by one. However the sms import is not possible that way.

The Symbian backup file contains all the data an thus could suitable source for export/import from Symbian (Belle-C7) to Jolla.

I don't know if it's possible, but maybe you can try to sync you contacts from your Symbian-phone with the Nokia pc Suite. in the Nokia pc Suite you can export the contacts into one .vcf. Transfer this file via Bluetooth to your jolla. maybe it works. i was not able to try it

Contacts import with Nokia suite to one vcf is not possible. Each exported contact will result individual vcf file unfortunately.

The solution is to use the commad prompt and copy => https://together.jolla.com/question/2/can-i-import-my-contacts-from-n9/

What I am after here is the export/import of sms, pictures, documents etc.
