Store: improve the browsing and search for new apps

I'd say that not only the 'All' category, but every group should have a few basic sorting filters: by publishing date, by popularity, by price (assuming Harbour will host also non-free apps), etc.
And maybe also add a general 'Newest' category, at top of the list (above 'All'), for quick access.

The All category and all other categories, too, are alredy sorted by date. So the most recent stuff will appear on top.

+1 for more sorting options.

Some search filters would be welcomed even if at the moment there's not plenty of apps. It would be really useful later.

search by "most downloaded", date, comments, rating, ...

I have trouble believing this would be the case. I'we checked out the store many times but I don't seem to find the the most recent stuff to be always on top? For example the "Flashlight app" was released today but it's not on the top?

@pycage@tapio.oling I agree on what Tapio said that there isn't a way in current Store implementation to browse apps in order of when they were released. Also, the release date (or the date of new version should be visible in such views). All in all the current Store UX is very confusing and the start view with same old app icons always appearing on top (even if I've read all the.comments too) doesn't help or aid to see what's new in Store.

Go to Categories -> All, and beneath the 6 most liked apps, in the regular grid of apps, Flashlight is the 3rd item after Medard Weather and Scientific Calculator right now. All were released or updated today. So this is the most recent apps.

@pycage That is not how I see it I'll go and change my language from finnish to.english and check it out, if there's a fifference.

No way to know they actually are the latest entries in Store, or whether they are the obes that.got update recently.. Also, I would like to see which ones of the apps that I.don\t have installed are new in Store. Also, I want to see more than six of them, and the dates and version numbers + changelogs of these recent entries. Also they should be.searchable by category, developer, platform, likes, # of downloads, etc. etc. So, in light of this Jolla.store clearly needs a better way to show users what\s new in the store. Only thing it now shows (in a very.confusing way) is the random comments for apps (nost of which user has already read).

@pycage besides: most recent new app, and last updated are not the same thing.. Also, it is quite strange that you as app developer think tthat Jolla store is good enough and makes it easy and obvioys for users to search and browse (latestt) apps by criteria relevant.to them..

At first I see six of some jolla-apps of which I don't have all of them. Then there's a "link" the most liked. But I can't configure for shure if those apps beneath that are the most liked or the newest. The order of these apps is very confusing, or can't I see the logic, or am.I stupid?

@tapio.oling that's how I see it too, the used lang doesn't change.a thing. I must be stupid too, to not understand what else the current All-view is trying to tell me with only those icons that say how many 'likes' there are

Thanks jjaone seems like I'm not the only one who doesn't understand the logic right nows. And yes there's a big difference between recently updated and recently released app. I hope there will be some kind of improvements with jolla store search and categories in the future.

I don't say I like it the way it is right now. I just pointed out how you can look for the latest additions. Beneath the link to the most liked, there are the most recent apps, and I use this view to find out what's new. Yes, it's not optimal, but this topic has the purpose of improving it.

I definitely agree here. The jolla store has hardely many applications right now, but it is already bloody confusing. Filters are a must, sections like any other store has should be added to (e.g. "New additions", "Picks").

You guys are all a lot smarter than me, but I'm not able to find anything new in the store. I look often, but get so confused that I quickly give up.

Please make the store usable. A web client to browse would be good too

besides the basic filtering for all categories, I would prefer a category "Newest apps" in addition.

I'll add the suggestions I made in a comment over at Differentiate native SailfishOS and Android apps in Jolla store here as well:

Sort options:
- added to store [options: newest|oldest]
- updated [options: newest|oldest]
- "thumbs up" [options: most|least]
- downloaded [options: most|least]
- alphabetical [options: A→|→A]

An indicator (similar to the one on the N9, but enhanced) for "I've downloaded this app (version ...), but have since then uninstalled it".

Ability to separate native (SailfishOS) apps from Android apps. Could be a setting in Settings → Apps → Store.
1) (all in one page) show SailfishOS apps, divider, show Android apps
2) show only [options: SailfishOS | Android] apps
3) (all in one page) show SailfishOS apps and Android apps mixed (present presentation)
Also: an Android logo on Android app icons - both in Jolla Store, and on icons in Jolla's Launcher.

Do you mean "Harbour" (where developers add apps to be cleared for Jolla Store) as well, or actually just the "Jolla Store" (where regular users can browse and download apps)?
