I've noticed that my battery drain has severely increased after the 1.0.4.20 update. Before during the night my Jolla would lose around 2% battery on stand-by but now overnight it went from 73% to 32% that's 41% drain. On the normal days use as well it's gotten much much worse.

Anyone else is experiencing this?

possibly, still blame it on increased use thanks to excitement of update... but that sounds really bad on the standby.

I'm having the same problem after ohijärvi update. About 40% battery drain overnight. I have no new apps ore any other ghanges made after the update that would cause this battery problem.

During the update and day time I thought it was because of the testing the update but night stand-by time really jumped up to levels which I don't like. I got the same account and apps as I had before didn't add nothing new. I will do a full test today with fully charged phone.

I updated yesterday evening and then charged the battery fully and now after the night it is 93 % == quite normal. I have nothing special running and it is connected only to WLAN

Before the update, I noticed quite often that the phone would get really hot and drain the battery rapidly. This has only happened once or twice after the update, and nowhere nearly as badly.

In most cases, the battery life seems quite good. I leave home in the morning with the phone fully charged. At the end of my working day 11-12hrs later), it's still about halfway charged. 3G and WiFi turned on and syncing several accounts, including Mitakuuluu and Tweetian.

However, sometimes the battery seems to drain really fast. E.g. after switching from 3G to WiFi, although not always. It doesn't heat up that much anymore, but still drains sometimes.

A few more numbers:

Last night, phone was half full, used the torch light app and drained the battery completely in about 5 minutes.

After a full recharge, it drained to 92% overnight (8hrs). Still at 79% another 8hrs later, with light use. WiFi and 3G connected, syncing as normal, and a few photos.

So, another couple of days passed. Experience is that the battery holds up to around 75-80% charge with light use from early morning to somewhere past dinner time. Heavy use at night (browsing, Tweetian) brings it down to around 50% before I plug it in at night (midnight).

Conclusion: no severe battery drain in my case happening on a regular basis.

I am getting tired of charging the battery every night. Does anyone know how to go back to the last version of SailfishOS? I had a battery life of 3-5 days with the earlier version.

Have you tried the advice from the others, such as taking out the battery for a while? It's not normal if you must charge it every night without using the phone quite heavily. Mine just went down 10% for the past 16 hours with light use (a few calls, some brief web surfing, wi-fi on all the time and 3G on when needed).

Thanks for the suggestion.

I removed the automatic synchronization of all of the accounts I have in my Jolla and now the battery drainage is no longer an issue.

After removing automatic synchronization from all accounts the battery life seems to be back to normal (in my rough estimate the battery lasts for 3-5 days with 30 minutes of browsing / day, checking email a couple of times / day, 30 minutes of calls and some messaging / day).

There were two places where I edited synchronization settings:

1) Settings -> Apps > Email -> disable "Enable scheduled sync for IMAP and POP accounts"

2) If you have Microsoft Exchange account (Outlook for instance) go to:

Settings -> Accounts -> click on the Microsoft Exchange account -> disable "Sync automatically"

Now I am enjoying my Jolla again. Thanks for the advice in this and other chains of discussions!
