Add character-repeat feature to on-screen-kb

Note : my terminology is that of an absolute outsider. Ask if you have questions and need more details!
On button press, currently if you keep the pressure, different variations & accents for the specific letters are shown, and there is no chance to input a text like " Aaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" without having to press each charater. It could for example be added if the pressure is kept for a while longer than is required to show the "variations" window.
Actually, the code seems to cater for your request already, see https://together.jolla.com/question/21510/howto-adapt-sailfish-virtual-keyboard-vkb-layout/?answer=34027#post-id-34027, InputHandler.qml. I do not know, why this is not active.
(Solution would be, that you have to move to the accented characters in time if you do not want to switch to character-repeat mode.)
