A basic todo app with alarm, tags and priority

Based on the votes between this item and the question 1289, most people seem like traditional todos-in-the-calendar option. However, there are couple of reasons why the separate todo application would be better.

First, quite often todo items are just reminders without exact due dates. Items with vague (ASAP, this spring, second coming, etc.) or nonexistent dates do not really fit nicely into the calendar.

Secondly, Jolla's user interface allows just one cover per application. With the separate todo application we can have two covers in the home screen: one displaying scheduled calendar events and other with todo items.

Finally, if we combine this separate todo application approach with the access to the calendar database, we can also have timed todos which are visible inside the calendar. Kind of best of both worlds.

Hey,

I'm currently working on something like this. My aim is to provide something syncable with Taskwarrior (but not mandatory).

The features include :

• Due date ;
• Priority (None, Low, Medium, High) ;
• Projects (lists) ;
• Tags ;
• Virtual tags (see Taskwarrior) ;
• Smart folders (Today, Next 7 days, Overdue, ...) ;
• Annotations ;
• Dependencies ;
• Wait date ;
• Recurring tasks.

Due to API limitations, it sadly won't be able to add notifications or to interact with the calendar app. I hope to release it Q1 2015.

I'll also release the sources.

If you have ideas or requests, please comment below. I can't promise anything though :)

Hi there.

I also would like to have a more advanced task managing - todo app. I also favor the idea of separating todo's from the calendar. A calendar entry is for a certain event (appointment, event, meeting) at a certain time. A task can last from 1h to 1 week depending on the amount of time you need to invest. I think therefore it does not make sense to organise it in the calender. It leads to an crowded calendar where you will lose the track.

I already made my own thoughts about such an app and started to make a concept. If there is a coder out there who is interested in and take the challenge I would invest the time to finalise the draft the next days. Also advice of a UI-designer is welcome. Please be aware I am not a coder, just a plain user, so do not expect too much ;)
