There should be an easier way to turn vibration off. Either a "do not disturb" mode, or possibility to control vibration in favorite ambiences.

There are some times where silencing the phone is not enough, vibration needs to be off too (sound of vibrating phone on bedside table is loud enough to wake one up)

BB10 had a very nice way to enable night mode that made sure you wouldn't forget it later, as it was disabled once the phone was unlocked. Very handy for quick naps or visits to the theater.

This question is now once again valid, since the silent mode was removed and N9uwu's workaround no longer works. Please consider.

It should be possible to pin the vibration setting to the main page of settings, as well as other settings that arent currently supported.

I think this will be achieved in the future through different options in Ambiences.

See this answer: https://together.jolla.com/question/632/themes-not-just-ambiences/#post-id-4241 ("Ambience is intended to be a lot more than just an image and set of colors in the long run, please be patient and wait what we have in store for it")

There is an "easy way" to achieve this using ambiences and the right setting for vibration:

  • set vibration to only when sounds on
  • create an ambience1 with your desired ringing volume
  • create an ambience2 with ringing volume set to 0

Now you have 3 options:

  1. ambience1 for normal ringing with vibration
  2. ambience2 for silent mode with vibration
  3. either ambience combined with silence sounds for silent mode without vibration (= "do not disturb" or "bed time" mode)

HTC lets you control the vibration with the volume rocker:

  • Press Down: volume goes down to lowest volume
  • Press Down again: Phone goes silent. No vibrations either
  • Press Down once more: vibrations turn on

(Pressing Up works the other way around)

This is accessible from anywhere in the system (except when playing music or video when the volume rocker controls media sounds).

It's even accessible from the home screen, while on Jolla you have to log in first.

Maybe this is an easy way to achieve what you want. It's very cool to be able to control different setups also with Ambiences (even smart ambiences for example related to calendar events), but there should also be a foolproof method for those who don't have time to set everything up.

Android Slim Kat had this exact implementation, I find it very effective and it would be perfect, in my opinion.

Is there a way to set an ambience with no sound but only vibration? I would like to have three ambiences: - no sound, no vibration (works ok) - no sound, with vibration (does this work somehow?) - with sound, with vibration (works ok)
