I´d like to have an integrated countdown to stop the music player. This would be very helpful to fall asleep with music.

Agreed. This would be a nice to have feature.

Agreed here as well, very useful!

Still no answer from Jolla about this? Is there some command line hack / script workaround for doing this? Would be useful for other apps too, like internet radio and others...

Could the timer be better placed outside the music player? It would be handy for other purposes as well. ...like stopping my daughter's movie at slightly before bedtime?

The sleep timer could be grouped with the equalizer that is mentioned in other threads here at TJC.

[shameless plug] Even though this thread ist a bit old: I couldn't find an alternative so I wrote one. It's called "Slumber" and you can find it in the jolla store or on openrepos. I hope you like it. [/shameless plug]

okay. media player needs many things to be added. like auto generated playlists (last played, last added so, on) eq, and at least, but not last - repeat a single track

Very funny I went through this post, because I'm currently developing a Sailfish application that will do exactly that :) It's still under development but a first version should be released soon. The first version would feature a sleep timer editor, where you can attach a sleep timer to any .pls file present in the playlist/ folder of Music directory. You will also be able to configure the complete playout time, the fading time of music (from [currentVolume]to 0), if the playlist should be shuffled,... And there will also be an option to shut down the device/exit the application on playout end. So stay tuned, it will come! :)

Great! While waiting for your app, I just use a simple shell script, see https://together.jolla.com/question/27469/stop-mediaplayer-radio-with-sleep-or-timer-shell-script/

I hope the sleep timer will work with any multimedia source, including internet radio (like QuickRadio from Openrepos). And it would be great if you could switch off the bluetooth speaker connection when the sleep time is over.

Very good ideas, especially for bluetooth connection teardown :) I will also test inputting a webradio address and see how it goes ;)
