Whenever I try to connect the phone to my Ubuntu 13.10 desktop PC in "PC connection" mode I get a Nautilus window for the gphoto2: protocol (which I assume is right for an MTP connection) with a dialog sporting the error: "Sorry, could not display all the contents of “Sailfish”: Failed to get folder list: -1: Unspecified error"

Do you have the 64 bit version of 13.10? Because with the 32 bit version MTP works with the Jolla.

I also have the 64 bit version of Ubuntu 13.10. The nautilus integration seems to be broken. As a workaround you can use mtp utilities like gmtp.

I am not sure if it is a real issue with the phone or with the nautilus integration of MTP in Ubuntu.

Thanks, I'll try it.

MTP CLI utilities (from ubuntu mtp-tools package) works, so I'll mark this answer as "Correct" as it is in fact an Ubuntu bug.

Using lubuntu 13.10 the usb to pc connection with a 32bit pc (eeepc 901) works just fine. The installed mtp related packages are: libmtp9, libmtp-runtime, libmtp-common, all version 1.1.6-2. The filemanager is PCManFM. I hope, I have listed all necessary packages. Using a 64bit kubuntu 12.4 the version of the above packages is 1.1.3-1ubuntu0.1 and the data connection does not work. So the problem might be the version of those packages. Good luck.
