Feature request: Additional use of "swipe down from edge to lock the phone"
I like shortcuts to do things and judging from the active covers so does the Jolla team.
I think that it would be effective to add shortcuts to "swipe down from edge to lock the phone screen". Basic idea would be the same as it is in android lockscreen where you can slide your finger on top of an app to directly open it from the lockscreen.
In Jollas case this would be kind of reversed. When one would slide down from edge, the current "about to lock the phone" screen would come up, but there would be shortcuts, app icons ie. If user would slide his/hers finger on top of one of the icons, that app would be launched and the screen would not lock. If finger would not be released on top of any shortcut, then the phone would lock. Shortcuts should be user defined.
This would probably be confusing. Putting shortcuts to apps in the same place you use for getting away from the apps (by locking the screen) seems counterintuitive to me. Maybe having them in the events view screen would make more sense.

I just can't seem to think any faster way to do it. In N9 you could always bring up the shortcuts anywhere by swiping up from bottom of the screen just few centimeters. This was actually nice and fast, maybe Jolla could adapt something similar with their own twist.
However, I don't think shortcuts should be added to events view. I take it by evebts you meant the notifications? I think it would clutter that view too much, but it is true that that view should have some more functionality
