My SIM card isn't detected anymore since 1.0.5.16 update. Settings app is dramatically slow and "Mobile network" menu gives a message telling these parameters are not available without any SIM card. I obviously reset-ed the phone 3 times and I am back to the same point.

My SIM card worked correctly in 1.0.4.20 and lower. My SIM card works correctly in any other phone and OS. Other SIM cards work correctly in 1.0.5.16.

Could we have a sign from Jolla for being sure this problem is known and will be fixed soon? Are you aware of this issue?

I'm also on Free Mobile, I'll tell you if I have the same issue after upgrading from 1.0.4.20.

@idiallo I tried with 2 other Free Mobile SIM cards and they worked. But my SIM works in other phones. I asked to a new SIM card so.

Mine is still working after the upgrade.

I put the Jolla off with flight mode all the night. 10 minutes ago I turned it on and disabled flight mode and it perfectly works!

So what is the problem with this release since everything works well in lower versions? I know I am not the only one impacted, one of my friend with an other carrier has the same problem!

My Jolla is still NOT working with my O2 UK sim.

My O2 sim works in my other phones.

My 3 UK sim works in my Jolla. No issues. Everything works.

I can see O2 UK on my Jolla homescreen when I put the sim in it, it asks me for my sim pin code. But nothing works. Texts don't work internet doesn't work. When I try to check APN I get the message 'these settings cannot be assessed without a sim inserted'

What has Jolla done to my phone??????? Everything was fine before the 1.0.5.16 update (hot fix didn't help either)

If you reset your phone and don't upgrade it to 1.0.5.16 then, it can be used. It is the last update who is concerned by this bug.

I have the same problem. Before 1.0.5.16 everything worked perfectly. After updating the phone isn't even usable. Besides everything crashing or freezing every few seconds, my simcard is also not recognized. I already tried to go back to factory settings 4 times (because i thought maybe restoring contacts,messages... is the reason)

My phone will not detect my sim card either.

With a sim card in the phone everything is really sluggish.

finally after 4 resets I have it working fine on wifi ONLY witj sim card removed.

Ive had my Jolla since December and this is my first time having to reset.

meanwhile... sim is in another phone...

:'(

Here is what I've done and it worked. I can't tell you if it's really the solution or if it is a coincidence.

@thesignal@Hazy 1) Hm, could you try the flight mode trick juju_des_highlands suggests?

2) When the problem happens, if any of you have developer mode enabled and know how to use a shell, one could check dmesg and "$journalctl -b -a -f --no-tail" to see if some process is constantly crashing.

3) Third thing one could check is some process(es) taking all CPU time, e.g. using "$top" shell command or installing a resource monitor from jolla store

(e.g. "Crest" =>Set "Apps only:off" and sort view based on CPU and RSS usage)

If there is an issue with the phone sim card reader mechanism, it might produce random card connection problems. To test that you could remove the back cover and carefully push the card sideways or deeper and see if that helps. If yes then there's your root cause.

This is an old Jolla issue, for more info how to test or have it fixed please see https://together.jolla.com/question/1358/sim-card-connection-to-phone-lost-easily/

Nothing to see with this kind of issue. The proof is SIM card perfectly works in previous versions if you don't upgrade the system even if you don't replace the SIM card. As you upgrade system, as it stops to be detected.

One of my friends reporting the same problem found the possible cause. He tried 3 SIM cards with 4G activated and it didn't work. He tried a 4th SIM card with only 3G activated and it worked. I remember now I disactivated 4G use in my carrier customer area but it didn't work right after disabling it. I suppose there is a time to wait before this change could be repercuted. Anyway, these SIM cards blocks are maybe or probably caused by 4G network. Could someone try this workaround?

i'll think the best solution is to wait until the next version with 4g support is released.

I just upgraded to 1.0.7.16 and sadly, it didn't solve a lot of my problems.

However, I finally can make calls or write messages. Most android apps i use are still working after the upgrade. I can open calendar, contacts and dialer. Also, the gallery is working.

What's not working:

  • Settings app. Takes forever to open, works for some seconds, then it's freezing fpr half a minute
  • Mobile Network in settings app still says that no simcard is in the device "Settings are not avaible without simcard"
  • Camera app can be opened, works for 2 seconds, then freezes
  • Browser freezes randomly (and always when i click on "tabs")
  • App Store doesn't open, opens some minutes later and becomes focused, then, it can't load the apps-view (loads forever)

I'd really like to have a working phone, i had to skip the last update and used 1.0.4.20 for a while (it also crashed randomly, sometimes the phone rebooted 10 times in a row, when i was trying to make a call, sometimes it work for 2 weeks without a crash), but i have no idea what i could do.

EDIT: the app store finally loaded (after 15 minutes) and the battery was drained from 25% to 11% in those 15 minutes (the screen was turned off)
