Jolla, please take "Friends" under your wings
Sailfish OS doesn't have an official Facebook app and many people think that "Friends" (by Lucien Xu) is a great community offering.
Why not take this one step further and make it the official Facebook app for the platform?
Specifically,
- Friends should use the Facebook account that the user added in Settings -> Accounts
- Facebook notifications should open in Friends, not in a browser
- Friends should be in the "Jolla" category in the Store
Jolla could even hire Lucien to do this work for them, and support him in making Friends a fully-fledged Facebook client that is on par with the Facebook clients of other platforms.
I do not use Facebook, but that is the right way for Jolla to improve the UX.

Since I avoid the latter type, for me every hour spent on that is an hour not spent on something I do might use.
Fuzzillogic ( 2014-04-20 17:26:27 +0200 )editPersonally I hope not. Officially preferring one might discourage alternatives. Alternatives give new ideas and make everything better. As for the notifications idea, yes, that should be in the settings.

Taking a single application a hardwiring it to the system might be a short-term solution but brings no longer-term benefits.
