I took backups before new sailfish update. Updated it. Found my backup in updated sailfish and pressed "restore". NOTHING was restored. Accounts, messages, PICTURES, bookmarks all gone. Anyone else having this? This all looks very cool and fluent but it did not do anything...

Have you tried to restart (turn off and on) your phone after restoring?

I haven't yet tried the update, but I'd suppose it normally maintains your current settings, etc.. Why did you need to restore your backup?

For me, restoring backup from SD card doesn't work. It "loads" 0,1Mb file, but no backup.

This was a pretty efficient summer cleanup process. I've never owned a cleaner "smart"phone. If I would have money for another phone then I'll probably throw this against the wall. I've lost motivation the post bug reports here too. There's just too many of them.

This is still a problem

I made a backup, moved it to the SD card, reset the device, upgraded to the same version I had when making the backup (i.e. Aaslakkajärvi), restored the backup from the SD card, and finally restored the backup.

Bookmarks are restored! Contacts are restored! With avatars! [Edit: but date categories new job/house are changed to weddings - I haven't been married that many times!]

I had to throw in a few exclamation marks, because that was the end of the positive news. No call log, no messages, no notes - these are all gone.

I could restore messages from /home/nemo/.local/share/commhistory/ since I had copied the entire /home/nemo/.local/share and /home/nemo/.config directories to the SD card before resetting (in order to preserve data for other applications) - but the experience was not very uplifting, and I really would have liked to have my notes back!

There was actually something more happening, because the Jolla account I already had configured to perform the system updates was deleted when restoring the backup. However, I don't think that counts as positive news.

Did you do the same mistake as me? Just noticed that first you have to restore the backup file to the device using the pulley menu and after that you long press the backup entry that appears and choose "Restore". This worked for me. It restored everything except the accounts.

A bit confusing I'd say but at least it works. It was smarter than I was.

My next issue seem to be how to sign in to my Jolla account. Worked nicely before this restore procedure. I couldn't log in the the website either. I reset my password and got in on the website but I still cannot add my account on my Jolla. It just keeps working on "Verifying sign in..." and nothing happens.

OK so the solution was to sign in and even if the Store is saying "Verifying..." then you just close it and reboot. Voila, when you open Jolla Store after reboot it has already signed in. The accounts appeared after reboot too.

I was urged to downgrade from 1.0.8. to 1.0.7. , accounts were gone, restore of accounts did nothing.

'backup' seems to be a nice, but pretty senseless feature. would be better to remove it from jolla-settings, maybe somewhen somebody believes it will work there are enough questions stating that it doesn't work

Yesterday I was messing around with backups, copying them to the SD card before downloading the new hotfix. Accidentally I pressed Restore on the most recent backup, could not stop it anymore and there it went. Accounts are OK, except that the settings for Exchange are not what they where. People are a mess, with persons missing, or data missing from existing persons. Not really happy with this. EDIT: a day after all data did return in the People app. Strange, but I am happy now. The setting in Exchange that has been switched on by restoring the account, is the 2-way sync with Exchange. It works. I did not dare to use it earlier, but it works very elegantly. I like the Link-option a lot, where phone contacts and MfE contacts are joint visibly. Thanks, guys!

Maybe someone reads this and has the same problem...

I had some trouble saving backup to SD-Card. There is always an error message on ui, that device runs out of space. But this messaage is bullshit, because it is caused by wrong mountpoint. The problem here was an old mountpoint in /media/sdcard. So check if there is more than one UUID folder in sdcard folder. In my case I need to sudo rm -r -f the wrong UUID folder, than it work instantly and generated a Backup.tar on card.
