With my old Nokia N76 it was possible to enable the notification LED beacon while the phone was in standby state. In such case the LED flashed shortly in intervals of 5s or so so it was possible to find the phone laying around in complete dark. It would be great to add such possibility to Jolla also so it could be located even when there's no notification in place. Once there's an event triggering other notification LED behavior the beacon would be dropped in favor of such notification.

I have found out that such behavior can be easily enabled by editing the /etc/mce/20hybris-led.ini file and restarting the mce service. I would like to know if there's a technical reason for the PatternDeviceOn being disabled.

I like this idea. I often find myself not using my phone for half a day and finding out that I missed a lot of notifications, LED beacons really help with that :)

@stmous I would like to have the "breathing LED" too, like N900 had. I guess I have to enable the developer mode...

It's a taste question I suppose. Personnally I prefer using LED only for notifications. You see, the breathing LED when full charged is already boring for me :p

@juju_des_highlands Definitely I would expect it being user settable behavior (as it also was with the N76 I referenced).

For your reference, there is a post with more detailed instructions to configuring the led behaviour: https://together.jolla.com/question/11328/how-to-change-notification-led-pattern/
