I am not sure if POP3 supports deleting emails from server, some email clients provide that option. It would be nice if such a feature can be supported form Jolla.

I would prefer to have also an option to: - keep the emails when downloading - delete them on the server when I delete them locally

POP3 emails are only deleted from the server when deleted from "Deleted items" local folder on the Jolla. Currently there's no options to enable automatic deletion when downloading(some servers also don't honour such option), but we can provide that, please vote here: https://together.jolla.com/question/16156/need-a-delete-permanently-function-as-my-pop3-email-is-still-storing-all-the-deleted-emails/

is there any way to bulk select all emails from Deleted items or I have to go and select them one by one? btw selecting items it should be nice at the bottom to display the number of selected items?

Pulley menu: Select emails, then again pulley menu: select all

Selected count appears at top in the page header.

POP3 always delete the mails from server by default, because it is downloading it to your phone without storing it on sever which IMAP4 is for. You can configure on POP3 to let a copy for a specific time on server, but that's it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imap#Advantages_over_POP

That's not quite true: To my Jolla I download the emails from a POP3 server without deleting them there. To my desktop PC I download with deleting the emails from the server. This means: At least, when your POP3 server supports this, you can specify whether emails already downloaded should be deleted from the server. It seems, that Jolla does not delete them (at least, during a quick check I did not find any option for deleting or not deleting), while in my desktop email application I can specify what should happen on the POP3 server with the emails just downloaded.

Personally, I am happy, that the Jolla does not delete the emails downloaded (I have to be sure that all emails are available on the desktop). If it is going to also delete them, this should be made an option.

Contrary to what you say (and to the link you provide), there has never been any question of POP necessarily deleting server emails when downloading them.

I for one have been using a variety of POP clients for the last 10+ years, simultaneously from various client platforms on the same accounts, and obviously leaving the mails on the server (so that each platform get them all).

What is of interest in this kind of situation is the ease of use of more detailed behaviors, like for instance 'delete the server version when (and only when) I deleted it here", which allows a local spam filter to purge more efficiently for all machines.

And this too works for POP clients (I have a couple that do this on OSX among others, and I think the one from Mozilla does it too). I see from the answer below that Jolla's own does it too (couldn't try yet, waiting for the tablet ;-)
