Wasn't the May update supposed to come out this week? Any news?

Wasn't there a tweet just after the April update regarding developers having a summer break. May not be a May update.

Seriously no pun intended.

No. They said that there would be a release this week. I believe it July when they plan a hiatus

July is the holiday month. According to answer that follows further down which mentions an official tweet, the update will not be out this week.

From devel subscription:

As agreed in the community meeting on May 7, we will start sharing a high level software release content plan after each iteration planning day at Jolla. Based on the feedback received, we can re-visit the agreement later and discuss how to make things better for all of us.

This reflects the current status. We are having a iteration planning session soon where we hope to add more technical details on where we intend to focus our efforts in software development.

We are currently mid way through iteration 4, in the implementation phase for update7. In the meantime, we are finalising update 6 and here is a glimpse of what to expect with this release: * 4G support for users in Finland, Hong Kong and Estonia https://together.jolla.com/question/2135/enable-4g-lte/

  • New events view sub-page for displaying Facebook notifications

https://together.jolla.com/question/590/show-facebook-feed-in-notifications-instead-of-opening-a-browser/

https://together.jolla.com/question/564/personalization-of-the-pulley-menu-in-lock-screen/

  • Support for additional Bluetooth profiles: PBAP and HID

https://together.jolla.com/question/274/pbap-bluetooth-profile-support-is-requested/

https://together.jolla.com/question/1308/bluetooth-keyboard-support/

  • Support for traditional and simplified Chinese Handwriting Recognition in virtual keyboard

https://together.jolla.com/question/1504/provide-simplifiedtraditional-chinese-handwriting-input-method/

  • Quick access to Sailfish OS updates in Settings

I think, we should just wait

what do you mean devel subscription? I want that :)

dsilveira ( 2014-05-16 15:48:44 +0200 )edit

@dsilveira

It was anounced in the sailfish os devel mailing list. You can subscribe but you will also get a ton of other non "interesting" (unless you are a SFOS dev) emails.

So I guess that means still no Mac support? It's by far the most common reason I end up not recommending Jolla to people...

Setok ( 2014-05-17 18:41:47 +0200 )edit

What Mac support are you talking about? Are you sure it's not am Apple issue with lack of support for MTP?

Update 6 is not coming out this week according to @stezz: https://twitter.com/zzste/status/467010532521041920 So we will have to wait a bit longer.

Oh dear - he says "it's still gonna take some time for this update", which may suggest it won't be available next week either. Oh well.

Jolla is slowly turning its users in update junkies. I bet the skipped update in the summer will cause withdrawal syndrome to some. :P

=:o) Imagine going back to any Android phone. My Jolla has received more updates in half a year than some flagship model of a well-known korean company in their entire life!

Maybe the flagship didn't need updates ...

Maybe the Korean flagship company is just slack and wait for the normal Android updates :-)
