Add a feature so that ringtone volume gradually increases from (low)certain level to tthe maximum level setup for the ambiance. It will be even better if the starting volume is also configurable.

You can easily do this yourself, by making a custom ringtone with an increasing envelope amplitude. I suggest audacity for easy editing.

Valid workaround for a missing feature IMHO, no reason to downvote. However, having to go this way is definitely not a solution for this feature request. (so maybe this answer would better be converted to a comment)

I agree that this is not a solution. Sometimes I think that people here forget that the Jolla devices are destined to be used by the great unwashed, namely consumers, so good features like the ascending ringtone need to be included in the ringtone catalogue for easy selection. All other phone manufacturers do it this way as they copied Nokia's implementation. Remember - keep it simple stupid

uau, I never thought giving an easy solution would be so offensive, there are really angry people around here, lol

Yep, a few people are way to quick with downvoting, for my taste.

That is simply idea. I dont know the status of this feature request implementation, but I would like to see it as well on my phone. So I took a quick peek on dbus and saw that there is signal for incoming call and so on. As well it is possible to change ring tone volume by sending dbus message with desired level. Is it worth to try to implement daemon which monitors dbus and when it sees incoming call, it starts increase volume from the level you have set it in your ambientce. When you accept, reject or miss the call, it will be reset back to its original level. Maybe it is stupid idea, maybe such an application drain your battery and will not work correctly. but it should be possible and should not take too much effort. Same idea can apply for the alarm volume I guess.

I made a quick proof of concept for this quick hack and it works nicely. :) Now I have to find a proper way for this app/daemon to autostart on boot. and I have ascending ring tone volume.

Until there is no official ascending ringtone option in phone settings. You can use this piece of hack. Maybe not the best implementation but it works for me.
