I find it annoying that why resetting a jolla will bring us to the factory old version. Don't jolla think their latest firmware is the best among their older firmware version? Please fix it otherwise I have to go through several firmware update process just to get the latest version.

This is coming AFAIK and was mentioned by @stezz in Rome. Expect it after summer.
Jolla will fix this "- After the summer, the reset procedure will keep the last installed update;"

The topic is some kind of old. Is there a way to do a kind of factory reset without going back to 1.0.x?
I have a slow Internet connection and so it takes half a day to get back to actual one :( Also I find this some kind of stupid. On any other device I know it is possible to flash an any version of firmware, or to install an actual operating system.

Will there be an option to go back to "square one" (update version at time of delivery)?
There might be use-cases, in which an update makes things worse for a user, so she/he would like to roll back to the previous update version. If "factory reset" / "reset device" will only reset to the last jolla update, this way would be lost. That would be sad.
So maybe you could show options (e.g. in my case):
(Maybe this is already implemented, but I don't dare to click the "Clear Device" button ;)

I think the best will be to have a popup to choose on which version you want to go back. Because, I know that at the very early stage of Jolla Phone, some updates broke some keys features. So it was nice to reset the Jolla and be able to go back to a working software version.
It would be interessting, how much space such a restore point needs. If this is a significant amount, maybe the idea two options: delivery version / previous version would be better.
You can always reach any version, starting from the "delivery version".

They're using a BTRFS snapshot,
I believe You have a system restore snapshot, as well a writable system snapshot that you use daily.
One way would be to update the system snapshot as well as taking a new snapshot of the restore snapshot, boot into it. Then update this new snapshot, reboot back into your main system snapshot and then replace the original restore snapshot with the new restore snapshot, deleting the now redundant restore snapshot.
This would be a long process as you'd be doubling up on updates and reboots, and would eat up you space very quickly during the update.
Hope this makes sense.

I agree, it is a complete pain going back to square one. I have had to do a reset twice now.

DameCENO ( 2016-05-20 19:06:36 +0300 )editI had this with 3.3.0 Rokua. After updating, i was presented with a black/blank screen. I checked /etc/sailfish-release via SSH to see that the OS had indeed updated to the latest.
So I had to reset, which meant going through 8 OS updates taking around 6+ hours to complete, what a PITA!
