Hi,

i noticed some strange behavior of the filesystem (or MTP) when i connect Jolla to my PC. Some folders are hidden and some not, but i don't see a pattern.

I wanted to copy an addon to ~\.mozilla\mozembed but it isn't there anymore. This happend after i intentionally deleted .mozilla to revert some changes i made. However, the newly created folder doesn't show up in explorer.

If i just take ownage and rights i cannot explain why some files/folders are hidden and some not. Is there any hidden setting?

I would say MTP is intended for simple user data such as documents, therefore I think MTP is configured to just show folders containing such data

Yes, that sounds reasonable. But then, why are folders like .ssh or .qmf accessible. Isn't this kind of a security flaw? I'd like to know how one can dis/enable the exposage of such folder to MTP. Then I'd hide everything with a dot as first char...

by the way, you can use developer mode and sFTP to access every folder in home space (e.g. .mozilla)

Some files/folders are blacklisted.

Have a look at the following file:

/usr/share/mtp/blacklist-home.conf

There you can add everything you don't want to be exposed over MTP.

(I've just added .config .local .ssh .qmf and Downloads/mail_attachments as these files may expose personal data besides cluttering the explorer :-) )

Be aware, if you copy files over MTP they lose information about ownership and permissions, symbolic links. So, if you copy files from directories you removed from black list and copy those files back you can simply break your application data. Black list is there for the reason ;)

So, if you want to get your files from device you can just scp or archive with archiver saving unix permission correctly.
